April 2 - 5

It was a short week, but a full week. This is what we got up to!

P.E.

Students had a great time with Mr. Newton, playing a cooperative and modified basketball game.

Reading Comprehension Task - Connecting to Self, Text and the World

Students are working on deepening their comprehension by analyzing text and their own relationships with the information, as well as how the infomation relates to the world around us. Ask your child about how they connected to rocks, rivers, dogs and even paleontology in one short reading.

Math

We continue to review the division of large numbers up to 10 000 as well as investigate smaller (fractional) numbers to hundredths. Ask your child what they learned about equivalent fractions, decimal numbers including tenths and hundreths, and how these amounts are organized into a place value chart.

Writing

We have begun to learn about poetry and the beauty that it beholds. This week, students wrote poems using similes as well as personification. Ask then about theirs!

Health

In health, we wrapped up our learning about healthy eating. Students investigated the Canada Food Guide and interpreted food labels for their nutrition.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend! Please remember to send back the signed parent forms for the next health unit about growth and development (human sexuality - puberty).

Mrs. Harris and Ms. Irvine
